Okay, so I'm finally getting on here to put more than a sentence or two.
What a week. Thanks to everyone for thinking of us this week.
So, H is doing great. You'd never know he just had such a rough week. He went from 7pm on Wednesday to about 4pm on Friday with no solid foods and very little fluids other than IVs. The poor little guy. Every time we turned around they were planning to sedate him again and there wasn't enough time to sneak in a snack while waiting. He really didn't seem to mind though. Just before his final scan he was asking for something to drink, but other than that he was his normal happy self or so sedated he didn't care. Now we just do a follow up in about a week and another scan in about a month. I'm going to see if our primary care down here will prescribe something to go along with nap time and maybe we can sneak him into a CT down here rather than driving and full sedation.
Aside from the surgery, H did very well for himself this week. Of course they get the stuffed animal when they check in. Because of the chaos of seeing the doctor, then going to surgery, then checking in, he ended up with two animals for himself plus one for W. And then with it being Halloween...the Easter Bunny came to his room with a really nice truck as well as an 80 pack of play doh, plus a second pack for W, yes we have 160 little tubs of play doh. And of course he scammed the radiology department out of yet another little stuffed animal and a plastic fish.
As long as you don't see the stitches, you'd never even guess that anything out of the ordinary had gone on this week.
Both boys missed each other. The first night back H crawled in bed with W and refused to go to his own bed. I was afraid W might bump some stitches during the night, so once they were out I moved him to his own bed. The second night back was a repeat.
So, W had to go trick or treating with his dad and a neighbor boy. He was a rodeo clown. D supposedly got some photo's, but I haven't seen them yet. D got off work so late that W missed both costume contests and had to resort to the mall and housing for begging. He made a decent haul, most of which is going to operation sweet tooth with scouts and will be sent to the soldiers.
D is on a M-F schedule now. That makes life easier. He should be able to get a full 40 hour week now. We are still holding out hope for the county job.
Now I have to finish up my plans for our scout meeting tomorrow night. Thankfully popcorn is all over but the crying now. All of that paperwork is going to take up a lot of my time this week. Plus I will have all kinds of phone calls to make for H's follow up stuff. Whew, I hope I remember when it's Thursday so I can relax and have a cup of coffee to post another update.
Morning mist on our lake after last years storm

What could be better than sitting in a deck chair drinking coffee and chatting with the gals???

Glad to hear that H is doing well! It stinks that you missed the costume contests, but at least he got all that swag at the hospital!
I am glad to here that H is doing great. My kids also had a pretty decent haul in the candy department. I think this is the first year we haven't had you come by and trick or treat our house after housing and downtown. We miss you. We didn't get very many kids, but I think word will spread about the full sized candy bars we give out and we will get more next year. See you Tuesday.
That is so sweet that he wanted to sleep with W - I am so glad he is doing better - CRAP - we missed lunch this week......
ARGH!!!
