So, it is so nice and sunny here today. I can't believe how nice it is.
The boys are wearing their head lights down to the bus again. Yesterday H discovered he could see his breath in the beam of the light. It was hilarious watching him try to blow that shaft of light away from his face. I think by the time the bus came, the whole neighborhood was awake from his giggling.
W is so terrified to go outside now. He was playing with the neighbor boy a few weeks ago and they saw a coyote up by the houses in the middle of the day. We are pretty sure we saw it down the road on our way home from wrestling the other night. I keep telling W as long as the dog is out when they are playing, they should be fine. Of course the dog is too stupid to come back up the driveway on her own, so that means that H and I will have to go to the bus every morning until W graduates from high school...
MandM and I had a nice lunch with H and S the other day. I'm really thinking us moms need to start those wedding plans soon. They are so stinking cute together.
W has big news. He went to his first wrestling tournament this weekend. It was a huge one, about 340 kids (and let me tell you, you could smell them each one of them as you walked past the door to the gym!!). There were only 3 kids in his weight class, so his first match was a buy, then he lost his next two. He did much better than we expected. His last match he actually made it to the second period before being pinned. The coach kind of chuckled as he said we were dealing with a steep learning curve with W. Since it was double elimination the coach told us he was done and we could go. (We expected to only be there until about 10, but it didn't actually start until 10 and then they ran it different than we expected...so it was 230 when we left.) Well at practice Tuesday, the coach said that he actually has a 3rd place medal, so he will get that at his next practice. I'm just glad that he's having a blast doing it and doesn't seem to mind at all that he's no where near the best wrestler. I'm even impressed that even the really good kids that seem very competitive are very accepting. I think it's just a much better atmosphere than basketball.
Cub scouts is going pretty good. I haven't lost any leaders in the last little while. We had 6 boys and their families in the night time holiday parade the other night. They had a lot of fun. Things seem so much easier now that we are done with popcorn and re-chartering the pack. Of course it will seem hectic again in a couple months. We have pinewood derby and then I have to start doing training stuff for day camp. And then we are going to start our candy fundraiser. Let's just say, the person running that will not be me...
So, for traditions...I don't think we really have any special traditions. We try to get a new ornament for each year that has the date and some significance, like a trip or event for that year. My family always did one present Christmas Eve and everything else Christmas morning. D's family did presents Christmas Eve and stockings Christmas morning. Of course their "stockings" spilled over into 3 or 4 grocery bags below the stocking, so they needed the extra time. So, that's kind of what we do no, just without so many grocery bags. As for where we go, it just all depends. I think we have only hosted once, when I was on bed rest in my last trimester with H. With D's work schedule we haven't decided what to do this year (unless he has and hasn't told me yet...) We may go to his sisters, or we may just hang here....with my Irish Cream and his Tom and Jerry's...oh, and hot chocolate or spiced cider for the boys...
So, I know, I never got to my recipe update for last week. Maybe that's because the week was just one that needed more Irish Cream. I have not been inspired food wise lately. We have really gotten in the rut of doing the crock pot, tacos or pizza for dinner because of scouts and sports. And we really have a light schedule compared to some. I'm thinking if my fairly new stove were to break....we would replace it with one that had a programmable start on the oven. That would open up our menu plan considerably. So, I will try to come up with something cool for this week and get it posted later today...
Hope everyone has a good week.

I love that picture at the top of your blog. Just gorgeous.
As the mom of an Eagle Scout, I'm proud of all the work you and W. are doing in Scouts.
Make sure that we're all invited to the wedding between your son and Michelle's daughter!! :o)
