Okay, so I'm lame this week. I'm the last one to post.
Just another same old same old week here. The migration of fish is evidently slow and D has been off the schedule for the last three Thursdays. (part of why I didn't post yesterday.)
W had his pinewood derby Monday night. And I'll tell you, I was wondering if he was going to finish his car. Last year D just attached the weights inside the bottom after it was painted, so I thought that's what he would do again. Saturday I went down south for some day camp training and came back to find his painted car full of putty filled holes. Of course then W complained whenever he had to add another coat of paint to re-do it. I'm sure sinking the weights inside and puttying over them made a big difference thought. Next year the two of them will have to make sure they get all of that done before painting. Anyway, his car was second in his den and 4th over all for the pack. Okay, that may sound impressive until you realize there are only 3 boys in his den and 7 for the whole pack. I felt so bad for the first timers. One little boy put a driver in his car and these tall spindly wooden flames shooting up from the sides. Of course the flames broke off in the first heat. We had 3 cars that didn't add any weight, and they were the slowest three. I'm just glad we don't have to monkey with W's anymore. And next month at the district derby we will basically be spectators.
So, our little day camp training day was pretty nice. I didn't have to drive, so that was a big bonus. We were busy the whole day, so I didn't get to hit the other outlet mall (not that I enjoy shopping that much anyway...). I will say, whoever planned the menu must not have put a lot of thought into lunch that day. Keeping in mind that all of us would be sitting around tables from each other the rest of the day and about half the people would be staying in cabins together overnight and sitting together half the next day, maybe the two soups should not have been roasted garlic clam chowder (which was very yummy) and chili. Aside from that it was pretty fun. Of course now I'm realizing just how close to the black hole of volunteering I stood last year. I was under the impression this other woman was in charge of everything and I was just her handmaiden or something. Well, I am actually the program director (aka Julie from the Love Boat) and I am in charge of all of the activities. I told this other woman that I wanted to assemble a cabinet to help me. I'm thinking Chief Executive Crafter, Munitions Protocol Advisor, I don't know, I'm still in too much shock to think of any other fancy titles that come with no pay, just headaches.
So, H has had a very light week. His speech therapist called last week to say that she had to be out of town, so that freed up Friday. With Monday being a holiday, he not only pulled off a lunch date with Miss S, but also made it to the park. Of course all of the older brothers came as chaperone's, so they had to behave themselves. Not that I could imagine Miss S being anything less than ladylike. I do have photos of H with some very lecherous expressions on his face, so I'll probably always have to keep an eye on him. And since Monday was a holiday, he did get to go see Miss Jackie and the other toddlers on Tuesday. I guess ESD figured the Monday people would get too jealous if we still got to go when they couldn't because of the holiday. Oh the drama and pettiness of toddlerdome...
W is officially done with wrestling now. He had a tournament Saturday. (And I had to miss it because of Cub Scouts...)Anyway, they drove all the way down there, checking in, hung out for a little while. Then the coach told the kids to do a few laps around the gym. D said W made about a half a lap and said his ankle hurt, so he couldn't wrestle. I would have told him if he didn't at least try he had to pay the entry fee back from his allowance. I don't know, he can be such a malingerer sometimes. Anyway, D said it looked like there were only 3 kids in his bracket, so had he just stepped on the mat he would have gotten a medal. Oh well. Last night was their pizza party. I could only go to half of it (because of Cub Scouts). I was hoping they would do trophies first then pizza, but they didn't. Anyway, he got a nice heavy, resin trophy. He was so excited that it had a shoe and head gear on it. I was actually quite surprised that it spent the night on the kitchen counter and not in bed with him. He's so nutty sometimes.
So, can you believe this? I'm almost certain D and I heard on the forecast that we may have snow again Sunday. It sounds like it will get down to 500ft. Oh Joy!! And I was thinking one of these weekends we may rearrange some trees in the yard. Okay, not just a little to the left, no back to the right, although it would be nice to do that with a few trees. We have two in the upper part of the yard that I would like to move down by the lake. Then we have some mulberries along the front that could go down by the lake for color. Then it would be nice to just move the Japanese maples a little to closer to the center line of the front of the house, but I know the transplant ferry is going to veto that.
Well, next week is lining up to be a little busier than this week was. H will have toddler group. W has conferences. The end of the week H has an eye appointment in L.O. Since W is out of school he will go with me. That means I have someone to re-arrange the carsick towels for H, but then I have a whiner who will want to go to a restaurant. Of course we've been careful not to point out Krispie Kreme, so we may miss out on the sugar coated air puffs.
Hope everyone has a good week. And next week maybe I will even get this posted on Thursday.
