Well, our weather seems to be back to normal. W had a full week of school. The only short day was the silly early release day they went to in order to eliminate in service days...which they still have. Our house is not in danger of floating away. I do expect we could have ducks swimming through the grass down by the road for awhile, but that's happened before. And there is hope that our electric bill will be under $200 next month as there has been enough sun the last few days to notice the house is warmer with the dining room curtain open.
This is W's last week of wrestling. Tonight was his last practice. I think he will miss it, but it will be nice to have two less nights a week that we worry about getting dinner out of the way in such a rush. He has a tournament down south this weekend. I will miss it though since I have some cub scout training further south all day. I'm hoping that he will only have 3 kids in his bracket so he can bring home another medal, although he didn't seem to concerned about not getting one the last time. Tonight we found out that in March they will start up Grecco/freestyle wrestling. He wants to do that, so we'll see.
H has really been picking up lots of new words. I keep cringing every time he picks up a new one. He will have his evaluation for ESD a week from Tuesday. If he narrows that gap between what he understands and what he can communicate, he won't qualify. I know that's a good thing, but with his history...he likes to hang out on that plateau until he's a month or so behind, then jump up the cliff almost to where he's caught up and then just sit there again. If he stays qualified he can do 2 days a week at the elementary school to help keep him on track. On Tuesday at ESD he made a snowman by gluing paper shapes to a paper plate. He was so cute. All the way to lunch he kept kissing his snowman (I was glad that I only opened the glue bottle halfway or it could have been messy). When W got home from school he showed it to him. D commented that he had never seen H so proud of anything he'd made there before.
D is still squiring the fish around. It's been kind of slow the last few weeks and he's had Thursday's off. Supposedly they are going to spread that extra day off around. It may not be a big deal here soon though. We are requesting more good juju. Our neighbor works for the city and let us know there may be an opening. So, D picked up an application.
So, for scouts this week I made a request of D. After completing it, he just shook his head and said it was the silliest thing he'd ever done. I had him sand the faces off a couple old decks of cards. I had planned on having the boys make their own board games using cardboard boxes for the boards and old buttons for the game pieces. I had originally planned to just have them write their cards using 3x5 cards, but those couldn't really be considered recycled or re purposed. We always have a ton of playing cards and D's family is really picky about using old cards, so rather than throwing them away that seemed perfect. Next week is our pinewood derby, so there won't be any cool ideas to pass along from that.
We didn't try any new recipes this week. Just the boring old stand by's. I'll have to think tomorrow and see what I can come up with to post.
Hope everyone has a good week.

Wish you could come here to make your salsa for us!! That would be fun!!
Oh, the days of Pinewood Derby. It was super competitive where we used to live. Professional paint jobs, expensive decals, special weights. DJ still has his trophys.
Good luck to W!
