It's the weekend!!!!

Okay, so normally I don't really like the weekend too much because it seems whenever we get out of our routine it seems our kids get kind of wiggy. But, I am so ready for a weekend with nothing much planned. But, it's supposed to be 70 or something this weekend, so we will have the window battle. I will want to open all the windows at 6am in an attempt to get the house down to 65 so that it's not too far above 70 by bedtime. The rest of the family will want to run the furnace first thing in the morning so that our day starts at 70 and even though it's only supposed to be 70 outside...the house will somehow be 90 by bedtime.

So, on a better note about the weekend...I'm thinking that we will end up doing our first marshmallow scorching in the outside wood stove this year. Of course I will have to beat back the jungle of weeds in order to find the wood stove.

Well, our Easter wasn't too bad. We took the kids to the Easter Egg hunt down south of us. Very strange. They had all of the kids ages as well as a senior division. I thought that it would range from eggs just laying on the ground for the little guys to being fairly hidden for the oldsters. Well, they just taped of sections of the lawn and color coded them by age. Every age group just had the eggs tossed on the ground in plain sight. We were clear on the other side from the seniors, so I didn't see if any of them toppled while bending over to pick up their eggs. They staggered each age group by about 5 minutes. When they got to H's section, they counted down the last 5 seconds, we pushed our kids under the tape, H got 4 eggs that were close together and the rest were all gone. D's dad commented that they counted down that last 5 seconds and within 5 more seconds it was all over. Then we headed into the pool to watch W do the treasure dive. He spent about an hour in the pool with the other kids playing all kinds of noisy splashing games. Then they finished up by getting to dive for coin that were tossed into the pool. Of course they told them they couldn't use goggles at first, so W only managed to get 6 cents, but he had fun so that's what counts.

D was off again yesterday. So, we headed up to the evil empire (AKA Wal-Mart). We thought we would try to get some pictures of H. Well, we got pictures, but he was really copping attitude. She would ask if he wanted to hold a ball and he would yell NO. Then he would act like he would, but in the time it took her to step back behind the camera he would get the evil grin going and just as she was going to snap the picture he would roll the ball off the table. We ended up just having D poke the ball in so he didn't have time to be a brat. We didn't get much variation for poses and backgrounds, but at least we don't have tears in the pictures like we did last year.

W is in his second week of baseball practice. If he pays attention, he really does seem to do pretty good. Of course he's just as apt to wander off after an imaginary butterfly in mid thought as he is to pay attention to what he's doing. He did take his batting helmet off halfway through practice the other night. He puts it on when we leave the house. We have tried telling him he looks like a dork, but he doesn't care. I actually heard one of the coaches telling him he didn't need to wear it when they were just tossing the balls back and forth. Of course he had to inform the coach that last year his dad hit him in the head with a ball during practice. And yes, he omitted the fact that he was daydreaming about butterflies at that moment rather than paying attention to his surroundings. But who knows, that may work in D's favor. The coach may decide it's best not to ask D to help out at practice in order to avoid unnecessary head injuries (yes, as opposed to those necessary ones...).

So, that's pretty much all I have for the week. Next week should be fairly mellow. At least I'm hoping so.

Hope everyone has a good week

Hey now, Walmart is my friend! lol It seems like I'm there daily because it's the cheapest groceries around.

Our family is living and breathing baseball. Our league is super competitive. We have games at least 2-3 times every week!

All I can say about this job is that since we moved to VA, my luck has changed! OR wasn't very nice to me. I'm super excited about it too, especially since I found an awesome family to watch Andrew for me.
