One more week...

Okay, no guarantee any of this will make sense. I figured I'd better just do this before bed. If I wait and do it in the morning...well, lets face it, between family and life it just won't get done.

So, next week I will be done with day camp. I am sooo ready for that. Can you believe it's the middle of the night and I'm blogging in a cowboy hat? I'm not a hat person, so I guess I'm trying to get used to it since I plan to try to wear it all week at camp. I don't know. Maybe I'm using it to keep my last few wits about me...

I don't remember if I told you that we were having a dilemma about some of the songs and skits that normally happen at camp. Well, one of the women who does the camp inspections was at the camp school I attended. She was the chief of PC police. She told us that we could sing the verse to "coming around the mountain" where they kill the old red rooster. We couldn't reference smashing bugs or birds pooping in your eye. Well, we are going total rebel. We are singing what we want, when we want, and especially on inspection day. We are doing the blood circle for pocket knife training rather than the safety circle. We will be using regular Frisbees for the cow pie toss. But that only because we couldn't find cow pies online and any of them that occur naturally down here would never dry with our weather. I bet our boys will have the most fun at our camp.

Oh, BTW, curse baseball. I forgot to tell you all last week that after our last game we were informed that we had 4 more game. Some nit wit thought it would be beneficial to extend the season. Well, W had a fit over that. Anyway, it's not that bad. We were suppose to have 4 actual games and no practices. Well, about 10pm yesterday I found out they changed it to just anyone that wanted to show up twice a week could play. Hmmm, W doesn't want to go...and do you think I want to force him?? Anyway, evidently we must have been snubbed as no one bothered to call and tell us before the first game.

W is turning into quite the host. About a week ago the neighbor boy came over. W went to the kitchen and got two glasses of water and came back with them. Then he asked his friend if he would like a drink. Now, twice this week one of the other day camp directors has come by for a few hours and brought her daughter who is a year younger than W. The first day while we were done in the shed working on signs, W made her mac and cheese all by himself...oh, and he shared with H too (who just loves older women...and Miss S). The second day they came over he made her grilled cheese sandwiches and chili. Today when they came by he made chocolate chip cookies (the refrigerated ones). Too funny.

Our niece had her college graduation party over the weekend. We went up the river for it. The boys had a blast. Our other niece has two boys that are about 6 months and a year or so younger than H. Well, you all know that W just loves babies and little kids, so he was in heaven. And H typically loves hanging with other kids. Then the day of the party he even had a few more kids to play with, including a cousin of his cousins. I think she is a little younger than Miss S. We can't tell them about each other though....

So, I don't really know what to blog about this week. I'm sure you are all getting tired of hearing about scouts, but that's been my life the last few weeks.

No exciting recipes. I've been too busy to plan anything new. In fact, tonight D just picked up dinner on his way home. He even did the dishes afterward so I could retreat to work on camp stuff more.

Well, I think I am officially running out of steam for the night. I need to crash for a few hours and start again in the morning. I should have some good photo's to post from camp next week.

Hope everyone has a good week.

DJ has awesome memories from scout camp. I know it's a huge pain to set up, but the kids will love it.

No recipe for us this week? I've still not been brave enough to try to make that expresso cake you make. The cheesecake my boys made was good, but your expresso cake is awesome!! I could go for a piece of that right now!!
