Well, W has now been to the scout store. That $100 gift card was just burning a hole in his pocket. I think he really enjoyed it. He actually spent $100.10, but 20 cents was for a comic book for H. He also bought himself some emblems to go on his walking stick, a nice sharp pocket knife to go with his whittling chip, some Indian juggling sticks, a fire starter, an LED light that clips under a ball cap visor and a knife sharpener. He's pretty stocked up now, so we need to keep him happy and well balanced...
After our little shopping spree we hit a nice Italian restaurant on the west side. We hadn't been there for a long time. I can't remember if I was pregnant with W, or if he was a newborn, but it was a long time ago. They have the absolute best lasagna in the world!! I told D it was probably "forgive your husband for cheating on you good". He said he would have to remember that. W had a cheeseburger, oh yum. And H had chicken strips. We hadn't been there for lunch before, so D tried the lunch buffet. Everything was good on that.
So, still busy with day camp stuff. When our district person found out we were headed up there today, she asked if I would save her from having to meet someone halfway tomorrow. So, the back of our rig is full of camp t-shirts and other stuff.
Okay, so now we are trying to figure out if we can get the older boys at camp to make walking sticks. Someone from one of the other packs has an in with one of the logging crews. So, if they can come up with about 40 good sticks for the boys then we should be good to go. Then we just need to make sure they all have their whittling chip so we can turn them loose with knives. If not, then we have to plan for them to get the blood circle training (Peteshouse may know that of which I speak, or her eagle scout may...) We are not going to cave to the PC people too much when it comes to that. They are already trying to keep us from "killing the old red rooster when she comes, when she comes". I guess if we don't sing that song, we can sing a new one that I found in a song book that I picked up at the scout store today...I mean, it's in their book, so they can't say no, right. It's called Bug Juice and goes to the tune of On Top of Old Smokey.
"At camp with the Boy Scouts, they gave us a drink.
We thought it was Kool-Aid, because it was pink.
But the thing that they told us would've grossed out a moose.
For that great tasting pink drink was really bug juice.
It looked fresh and fruity, like tasty Kool-Aid.
But the bus that were in it were murdered with Raid!
We drank it by gallons 'cause we couldn't stop.
But we never noticed the bugs floating on top.
At camp with the Boy Scouts, they gave us a drink.
We thought it was Kool-Aid, because it was pink.
So the next time you drink bug juice, and a fly drives you mad,
He's just getting even 'cause you swallowed his dad."
I think they should post this on the mess deck on all cutters...you could change it up to something like "onboard the cutter fill in the name..."
I have to tell you, I thought of Peteshouse the other night watching the Alaska Experiment. They were each lucky enough to get their own squirrel. They looked like they enjoyed them...but I just have to think that not eating for the 3 days prior had a lot to do with it.
So, speaking of food and Peteshouse. The last time we made dutch babies I took some pictures. You really have to try them. The kids just love them. H sound so cute in his little boy voice saying "I eat babies now". They are definitely worth making once...then you will be forced to make them again and again because they are so good.
This is what they look like just as they come out of the oven. Of course, it used to be just a little taller, but it they start to shrink as soon as the cold air hits them. And keep in mind that when they go into the pan, they are just a thin little layer of liquid on the bottom.
Don't they look yummy on the plate? We just slice them up with a pizza cutter and the boys just eat them like this. D and I like to put some whipped lemon curd on them. Yummo!
So, now it's time to be done in blog land. Hope everyone has a good week.

Um...Yum!!! Now I'm hungry!!
I wish my money went as far at Costco as W's did at the scout store. That's a whole lot o' loot for only a hundred bucks! I'm sorta jealous.
